Clara Baker, originally from Portland, OR, grew up around music. She sang harmonies with her mom in church, learned fiddle from her dad, and spent summers jamming at bluegrass festivals and fiddle contests. It wasn't until she turned 18, bought a guitar, and moved to Wisconsin, though, that Clara really found her own voice and passion for music.
Since then, Clara has spent the past six years learning licks and writing songs while performing in Oregon, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kansas and beyond. Her lyrics and melodies express strong emotions and poetic observations of the world around her. Her personal, heartfelt lyrics draw you into each word; at times you may feel she is telling your own story. On stage she is charismatic, sincere and at ease while performing, and clearly finds great joy in sharing her music.
Clara's debut album, Temporary Things, was just successfully funded on Kickstarter and will be released at the Alberta Street Pub on June 27th at 4PM. She will be joined on stage by Martin Stevens and Josh Adkins (of The Bluegrass Regulators) and Dale Adkins (of True North), all multi-instrumentalists well-known in the Northwest bluegrass scene.
