Jonah Luke and his band play uplifting folk/rock that warms the soul and brings out the sunshine. Based in Portland, OR, Jonah released his debut full-length Finding a Way Home in Fall 2013 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. Jonah is now completing a new EP, to be released in Spring 2015.
Jonah self-recorded his EP I Don’t Need You to Know in 2011 and played as a duo with vocalist Anna Jo, honing their sound and style at local venues. In 2013 he teamed up with producer Peter Rodocker to make Finding a Way Home, an impactful release that features a full band, including a horn section and a Zydeco accordion to color Jonah’s uplifting lyrics. The result is a Paul Simon-esque rock groove that compels you to sing along and tap your feet.
Music has been the bedrock of Jonah’s life since early childhood. Growing up on Chicago’s North Side, Jonah grew up on a diet of funk, Cajun, and Paul Simon’s Graceland played on repeat. As a child he learned to sing as well as play drums, guitar, piano, and trombone. Jonah started playing drums in a Cajun Zydeco band at age 11, and soon followed that with stints in several rock bands, an a cappella group, and a trombone choir.
Jonah is also an accomplished recording engineer, producer and session musician, having appeared on 16 studio albums, including two with producer Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Iron & Wine).
The My Oh Mys are a 5-piece rock band from Portland, Oregon. Formed by the unholy alliance of really short people, really tall people, one normal sized person, and one REALLY hungry person -- forged in the blazing fire of handfulls of gigs in front of at least a few folks we aren't directly related to, The My Oh Mys play rock music for the people with no regard to decibel level, grammar, or proper stage-attire.
The band consists of Jeff Baxter, Anders Bergstrom, Tom Nunes, Bones Caragol and Ezra Holbrook, all former or current members of some of the NW's most beloved bands (The Decemberists, Jive Talking Robots, Triclops Organ Trio, Rob Stroup & the Blame, The Minus 5, Curtis Salgado, The ForReals, Jeremy Wilson, Dr. Theopolis, Redray Frazier). "A Howl Against the Wind", the bands first full length record, was released in the spring of 2013 right about the same time a mighty tree fell in the woods.
