Hailing from the beaches of Lincoln City, Oregon, Gabby Holt deftly blends sweet and soulful melodies with uncompromising honesty to create moments of musical oneness with her listeners. A born storyteller, her songs reflect a respect and admiration for the wonders of the world and the everyday gifts of love and friendship. Her exuberant, intuitive style and engaging stage presence bring songs to life and people together. Exposed to music since birth, Gabby's earliest memory is of a family friend playing a 12-string sunburst Ovation for her when she was a baby. This same family friend would one day leave her his vintage Taylor, which she called "Big Momma," and which promptly became the tool by which Gabby would first realize her musical aspirations. In the summer of 2009, Gabby began playing with the lineup of folk-rock three-piece The Hedges. The trio quickly compiled a set of over 30 songs and started playing shows throughout Portland at venues including Alberta Rose Theatre, Waterfront Park, Mt. Tabor Theatre, 94.7 Summer Concert Series at Streets of Tanasbourne, and multiple establishments within McMenamins. In 2010 The Hedges released Harvest, a collection of songs penned by Gabby and influenced by powder days on Mt. Hood and hours spent in the forest, where she would often go to renew her creative energy. Since then, Gabby has worked on a variety of projects. As a solo artist, she held Resident Musician positions at McMenamin's White Eagle Saloon as well as at KEEN Footwear, where she entertained at various business engagements and events. In rock outfit Hivemind, she played bass and co-wrote with lead singer Daniell Bedell, cranking out the band's entire set list in a scant three weeks. The jam-heavy and improvisational nature of playing in a rock band would push her performance capacities to new limits, as she learned to thrive in the often chaotic environment of house parties and rowdy bars. Gabby also co-wrote material and contributed vocals to psychedelic-rock group King Black Acid, an experience which turned her on to all new avenues of sonic delivery and composition. Currently, Gabby has joined forces with groove-connoisseurs Michael Galen and Joseph Berman of electro-funk duo Frizz, and super atmosphere guru, Jeremiah Petersen. With a full band line up, her sound promises to expand in ever-evolving directions. Check her out on Facebook.
