Goldfoot’s music transcends all cultures and demographics by creating a contagious musical formula using elements from the past, present, and future. While predominantly using rock, funk, and electronic music, you can also find blues, soul, and jazz within their sound. Paired with well-written and catchy lyrics, Goldfoot creates an irresistible cocktail of sound that leaves your ears asking for more.
Goldfoot first materialized in late 2013 when Trevor Forbess (vocals and rhythm guitar), Joe McClain (lead guitar), and Elijah Medina (bass) joined forces. The trio recorded The Goldfoot EP (released in 2014) before Ruth Heald began contributing vocals and percussion to the band. 2015 brought the release of Goldfoot’s second EP along with a music video for the title track, “On the Floor.” The four-piece plans to record a live album in November 2015 in their hometown of Portland, OR. Staying true to their mission to get people on the dance floor, Goldfoot maintains an active performance schedule throughout the Pacific Northwest. Is that a hint of AfroBeat? A touch of Reggae in between sultry vocals? You may not be able to label the music, but the funky drums and bass with searing organ make you want to jump for Joy. Throw in horn lines and driving guitar solos all craftfully packaged together in tightly arranged songs, and you have something Tasty. JoyTribe is a collaboration of Portland's veteran funksters with the soul purpose in mind of creating fresh, danceable music that challenges and showcases all the musicians involved. Started in 2014, the group has been writing original music together and evolving their sound and sense of unity as a band. Every moment has truly been a joy within the group: rehearsals are filled with laughter, shows are on fire and spontaneity abounds.
They have recorded two singles engineered by their bassist, Rick Bouvette. In addition to original music, JoyTribe plays Soul, Funk and Rock covers....lately dipping their toes in the Afrobeat world. Bill Withers, Orgone, Amy Winehouse, Parliament, Prince, Peter Gabriel, Bob Marley and Greyboy Allstars are a few of the artists the band has payed great attention to.
